If you are an apprentice aged 19-24 living in the Liverpool City Region you can get half price travel with an Apprentice Travelcard. This runs alongside the scheme that gives 16 to 18-year-olds discounted My Travel tickets.
The Apprentice Travelcard means young people enrolled in apprenticeships at tpm can get half-price bus or train travel. You can use the travel card for your discount when you buy weekly and four-weekly Solo tickets. And you can use it for weekly and monthly Railpass tickets.
To tap into the discount, apprentices need to apply for an Apprenticeship TravelCard themselves from a Merseytravel travel centre.
Apprentices can use their discounted bus tickets at any time of the night or day, not just for getting to work and college and back. Brian Quinn, a director with tpm says:
“The high cost of travel can limit the opportunity for many young people wanting to take up an apprenticeship. But anybody who is willing to work a bit further from home has a more affordable travel option with an Apprentice Travelcard.”
