tpm launches two ‘Higher Apprenticeships’

tpm is delighted to add two Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship courses to complement our fantastic suite of courses already available. They are ideal for the Early Years and Professional Business Service Sectors.

A Higher Level Apprenticeship is a nationally accredited work-based programme similar to traditional apprenticeships but at a higher level. It meets the needs of employers for higher skill levels. What’s more, it leads to qualifications equivalent to university level.

The two new Higher Apprenticeships on offer at tpm are the Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard and The Operational Departmental Manager Apprenticeship Standard. They are perfect for people who want to fast track their careers and progress. Significantly, both courses typically take just 2.5 years to complete.

Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard

This apprenticeship standard is ideal for practitioners who work in an Early Years setting, such as a day nursery, playgroup and pre-school. Ultimately, the standard allows practitioners to progress and take an operational lead for young children’s care, learning, and development. Moreover, it is a perfect qualification to develop further the skills of practitioners typically responsible for leading other practitioners, an aspect, or an environment.

The Standard at Level 5 covers a portfolio of professional skills, behaviours and knowledge required to be an effective Early Years Lead Practitioner. These include:

  • Promoting the health and well-being of all children
  • Providing playful, sensitive interactive opportunities that reflect children’s needs;
  • Participating in and leading daily routines and practice
  • Promoting diversity and equality
  • Demonstrating leaderful practice
  • Being accountable for day to day practice, long term planning, management, and training
  • Complying with all Health and Safety legislation
  • Maintaining effective administration and records

Operational Departmental Manager Apprenticeship Standard

The Operational Departmental Manager Apprenticeship Standard at Level 5 is ideally suited to people currently who work in or who want to work as professional managers from all sectors and all sizes of organisations. An operations or department manager manages teams and/or projects. Furthermore, they achieve operational or departmental goals and objectives as part of their organisation’s strategy.

This apprenticeship standard covers a complete portfolio of professional skills, behaviours and knowledge an effective Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager, or Specialist Manager needs. These include:

  • Operational management
  • Project management
  • Finance
  • Leading people
  • Managing people
  • Building relationships
  • Communication
  • Self-awareness
  • Management of self
  • Decision making
  • Taking responsibility
  • Inclusivity
  • Agility
  • Professionalism

Of course, the actual course content will depend on the needs of the specific job role. In addition, on completion, apprentices can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership and Management. Furthermore, those with three years’ of management experience can apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI.

Tailored Content and Support

From the start, tpm will tailor the course content with the employer to meet the needs of their specific industry sectors and individual apprentice. As a result, the course develops the knowledge, skills, and behaviours through off-the-job training, which are applied back into the workplace. In addition, tpm offers unrivalled support for apprentices and employers.
