School leavers and other young people in the Liverpool City Region are getting their feet on the career ladder thanks to the tpm traineeship programme.
A traineeship is a flexible education and training programme with work experience. In particular, it is ideal for individuals who aren’t quite ready to go onto an apprenticeship. For example, they may need to boost their skills and work experience first. Whilst on the programme, learners gain real work experience and job skills. Furthermore, they can improve their English and maths skills if needed. And the great thing about a traineeship is that the course is tailored to each individual learner’s career needs.
tpm works with a team of exceptional employers who provide traineeship opportunities to young people. The employers provide the work experience and the environment for the trainee to develop their work skills. In the meantime, tpm tutors provide the trainee with training and one-to-one support.
A big welcome to latest tpm traineeship learners
Recently, tpm has recruited several young people onto traineeships. Indeed, they are already out on their placements with local employers. A big tpm welcome to our latest traineeship learners who are based with the following employers:
- Guild Energy in Liverpool
- Stand Farm day nursery in Liverpool
- Little Rainbows in Wallasey
- Waverton day nursery in Kirkby
- K8Z Cheeky Monkeyz in Liverpool
- Larkfield Daycare in Liverpool
- Bumbles in Orrell Park
- Ducklings day nursery in West Derby
Progress from tpm traineeship to apprenticeship
A traineeship lasts between six weeks and six months. If you successfully complete your programme, there is every chance you can progress onto one of tpm’s apprenticeship programmes. And more often than not, you will be employed as an apprentice by the same employer. So far this month, we have had five learners who have completed a tpm traineeship and have now been employed by their on an apprenticeship. tpm will continue to support them throughout their apprenticeship, with training, advice and guidance.
Employers’ financial bonus for supporting traineeships
tpm is hugely grateful for its network of supportive employers who provide work placements for traineeships and also who employ our apprentices. Neil Pritchard, tpm’s employer sales lead, stresses the importance of employer support:
“Without the collaboration of the outstanding employers we work with, tpm just wouldn’t be achieving the success levels we are. We are able to launch professional careers for young people in the region, only because we work with a set of high-quality companies. They provide the work opportunities that turn people’s lives around.”
Employers in Liverpool City Region who offer a traineeship work placement opportunity can currently access a £1000 financial bonus. That’s for each placement opportunity they offer. Not only that, if the employer then employs the individual through a tpm apprenticeship before the end of January, they can access an additional bonus of between £1500 and £3000 depending on the recruit’s age.
