I’m a nursery assistant working at Little Apples Nursery and doing my level 2 apprenticeship in childcare.

What were you doing before this apprenticeship?

I was at school, and then I went to college before moving to do a childcare apprenticeship with tpm

What’s it like to be an apprentice at tpm?

It’s great – tpm is lovely! I feel very supported because my trainer and other tpm staff are so helpful. I get lots of support from my teachers as well as from my employer.

I was proud to be recently selected as tpm’s childcare Learner of the Month. My teachers and trainer said they nominated me because of my hard work and determination to pass the theory side of my course, and also because of the support I give other apprentices at tpm.

Which aspects in particular of your apprenticeship do you enjoy?

I enjoy it all! I wanted to work in a nursery, so my apprenticeship has helped me achieve this.

How do you think your apprenticeship helps with your job role?

The childcare lessons are really good. tpm plans them in ways that tie in the work that I do in the nursery. Not only do the lessons help me gain my qualification but they help me to develop in my job.

What career plans do you have for the future?

I want to continue working with children as I enjoy it. tpm has given me lots of career advice to help me with this, explaining how I can develop my long term career.
