tpm have recently launched a new apprenticeship standard in Team Leading and Supervising to complement the suite of apprenticeships we already have on offer.
Many employers who have developed their existing staff through tpm want to continue to progress their employees with us. We are committed to helping them to achieve that through this level 3 apprenticeship standard in Team Leading and Supervising. In particular, the standard is perfect for employees who are working in a first line management role or looking to progress towards it. As with all tpm’s apprenticeships the course is flexible and fits around existing roles. Additionally, employees can opt to study for a diploma in management in parallel to the apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship standard develops interpersonal skills such as leading and managing people, building relationships and effective communication. Furthermore, it builds personal effectiveness of employees who develop their decision making skills and explore self-awareness.
A Perfect Progression!
The apprenticeship standard is an ideal progression on from an advanced apprenticeship in business administration where a member of staff is taking on supervisory responsibilities. It’s also suitable for those who have completed their advanced childcare apprenticeship who want to become nursery room leaders.
After this, staff can progress onto a level 5 operations or departmental qualification with tpm!
Funding your Business’ Future
Here at tpm we understand that cost can be a consideration when it comes to developing staff. Most employers don’t pay the apprenticeship levy and thus will only make a contribution towards the training and assessment costs of this apprenticeship. Although some employers will get 100% of costs covered, most will pay a contribution of between just £340 and £520. Consequently, it’s an inexpensive and cost effective staff development tool. tpm will also help you get any additional funding that you’re entitled to at no extra cost.
What does it entail?
The programme lasts 12 to 18 months and combines on and off-the-job training. For example, this includes classes at the tpm training centre, webinars, workshops and practice sessions on skills and professional behaviour. There is also an element of self-directed learning and distance learning. Apprentices spend at least 20% of contracted working hours on off-the-job training. Each apprentice accesses support from a tpm personal trainer by phone and email. The trainer visit the workplace every 6 weeks to review progress and identify any specific support you or your employee need.
